Food For Thought
by nancy on Aug.07, 2009, under Exercise, Health, Inspiration, Nutrition
I have a good friend that asked me to blog about food and exercise. This sounds simple, but for a person who struggled with eating disorders for twenty years, it is very complex.
I tried many different approaches to free myself from purging, binging and my addition to food.
I remember lying on my bathroom floor realizing that all I could do was try one more time to love and forgive myself and let go so that God could heal the broken shattered pieces of my life. Why is that moment ingrained in my mind? Have you ever felt like that when you knew something life changing was going to take place?
It was a moment in my life that I will never forget; change was happening, a pattern, a habit, and a addiction to food was being broken.
Here are a few key ingredients to my success:
Each day, I looked myself in the eyes, even when I threw up nines times that day, and told myself “I love you”.
I stopped running six to nine miles a day and started walking after each meal or snack giving me a sense of control and balance.
All processed foods and sugars were replaced with organic whole foods.
Thinking back to that day and even today, I believe in the gift we give ourselves; the gift of love, courage to never give up trying, and forgiveness.
Just remember how very special you are!
I will write about what I eat and my exercise next week, I promise.
Thought for the Day

Sometime we make life so hard, at least I know I do; when actually it is easy. Letting go is the hard part. Trusting and believing in something you cannot see! This is Faith!
I want to let go of the control I have in my world and keep believing in a God bigger than all the pieces of my imperfect rows and shapes.
God grant me the courage to accept the things I cannot change, to change the things I can in my life, and the wisdom to know the difference.
Road Trip

Our daughter Sara is on her way to become a chiropractor. About a month ago she called up and asked if we could go on a road trip to check out Tennessee and North Carolina. So of course we said we would.
Our first stop was Nashville, TN. Our nephew Eric Tonnar just moved to Nashville with his job so we stayed with Eric for the first part of the trip.
The first day we were in Nashville, we met Steve Siler and Sue Foster from Music for the Soul. Steve Siler is one of the top recognized song writers in Nashville so of course we were honored we could have lunch with him. (continue reading…)
My Child
by nancy on Jun.26, 2009, under Inspiration, Music
My song “My Child” debuted on the Christian Country Power Source chart at number 99. When I recorded Healing Hearts we had no idea where it was going to lead us.
I have always wanted to record an album so Healing Hearts was a huge goal. But I also thought my story and music could help some people.
When “My Child” was sent to the radio stations we had no clue what was going to happen. We still don’t know what is going to happen but if I can touch one person with my music this has all been worth it.
So if you happen to hear “My Child” on your favorite radio station and you feel called, please call your station and request they play it again.
Thank you!
Glory Bound Train
by nancy on Jun.23, 2009, under Music
I wrote Glory Bound Train during the 70’s and in my teen years. I wrote it with you kids in mind. This has always been a fun song to sing.
While I was an aide in the public school system I sang this song to my students when I was working with LD students. They loved it.
The most fun was singing to my kids Sara and Michael when they were young.
This video is from my CD opening. Playing and singing with me are Jim Pullman and my son Michael. Ted Bukowski is on percussions.
During the opening we played Glory Bound Train with a little blues vibe to it.
I hope you enjoy it.
You can see more videos of my opening on my youtube site.
Fathers

Looking at my husband Mark today, I thought what a wonderful father he is to our children! I felt lucky and so very blessed and my heart filled with love for him.
He gave freely time after time and continues to guide and love them.
I smile with memories of the simple things he did, like riding Pepper our horse when he didn’t know how, just to spend time with his daughter; and playing with our son and all the neighbor boys just because they wanted him to and he could. Memories are a beautiful gift, and my mind is full of them.
Thank you for being the best father ever Mark!
One Simple Exercise
by nancy on Jun.10, 2009, under Inspiration
A professor of mine back in college had us try a so called “simple” exercise. Now I thought, this will be easy and my interest perked. Here was the exercise:
Each morning, look at yourself in a mirror straight into your eyes and say the simple words “I Love You”. This was one of the hardest things for me to do and yet it was a turning point in my life. For truly when I loved and accepted myself weaknesses and all, shame was released.
You try it and see what happens!
About Me
by nancy on Jun.06, 2009, under Uncategorized
Hi and welcome!
I wanted to tell you a little bit about me. So here goes.
My present profession is a Human Resources Administrator for a large transportation company. A better title would be Awards Specialist, where I plan and organize events, banquets, and all employee recognition events. I also manage five clothing stores located in all of our various terminals.
My desire to blog began on a whim, I am a compulsive walker and I wondered if there were any other people out there that could relate to me.
My passions are my family, living a healthy lifestyle, exercise, fitness, nutrition, singing, and travel. I was a stay at home mom when my two children were young. At the time, my husband and I owned and operated a True Value Hardware Store, and this gave me lots of flexibility to take the kids to work with me or spend the day at the park. (continue reading…)
