The Finish Line

Go After Your Dreams!

Have you ever had a dream or a goal and you saw it happen and come true? One of my dreams was to run a Marathon. As I reflect back on that special day, I am extremely excited to know that all my hard work and training came together and it worked! A year ago my husband found out that he had Colon Cancer. Our world was turned upside down. Even today, I cannot wrap my arms around it. As the days went by and after his surgery, I knew that my running would be a way for me to keep myself whole. So I ran and I ran and I ran. Following my Chi Running Marathon training guide, I knew I had the best plan to run without injury and love the process as well. I learned to depend on my inner spirit and strength and as I followed my daily plan, I saw results. I remember mile 22 of my marathon as I crested the hill, I saw my family cheering me on and at that moment I realized that my dream was unfolding right before my eyes. Seeing Mark who is now Cancer Free and Sara who inspires me to be all that I can be..along with Michael cheering from Poland and my many friends out there encouraging…umm words are hard to find to express my emotion. Isn’t that, what life is all, loving and following your heart. Would I change anything as I prepare to run another Marathon? Only a few things, get in the 4 hour pace group not at the end of the pack, run through a few more water stops and…no pee stops. What inspires you, what dreams are in your heart? For me when I saw the finish line, I knew that the journey was my reward!

Such Gratitude!

by on Jun.09, 2012, under Inspiration

I was reading one of my previous blogs from last year and I was amazed at how far I have come. For me it is about the journey not the end result, that is what really matters in life! For the last 8 months, have been training for my first Marathon and the crazy thing is, I never ever thought I would run one. Today I had a break through. I have been sore all week and I almost bagged this run, but decided to go to Eau Claire and run the river trail. Last night I watched one of Danny’s Chi Running videos and he stressed the importance of leveling your pelvis. So this morning, I relaxed more, ran the 10 miles with ease and leveled my pelvis. I pretended I was dancing to a waltz step and this made me smile. As I crossed the bridge going into Phoenix Park, I knew I was ready to run my first Marathon. Walking on the soft grass on the way to the river I felt gratitude. Sometimes in life we forget to see what is right in front of us. Being thankful for a very special call from your daughter or a great meal with someone you love!!! I am grateful to see Mark tomorrow! He has been at a SOC Conference in Vegas and I miss him. It is hard to believe that it was a year ago that he had surgery for rectom cancer. I just feel thankful! God you are so very good!
